This year’s colour ringing of Gull chicks got underway today.
Herring Gull nests within our census area are slightly up on last year.
Lesser black backed Gull chicks were also colour ringed today, for this species it was the first time on mainland Alderney.

Helen McGregor, chairman of the ABO directors, is planning to climb Ben Nevis at the end of June to support the scientific work of the Alderney Bird Society.
The States of Alderney have terminated the ABO’s tenancy of the Nunnery as they want all the island charities to benefit from it – rather than just us.
This has left a hole in our finances, can you help out please?
