Today more evidence of large numbers of birds moving on the NE winds included several locally scarce species. For a second day running over 300 birds were ringed, today 1 Kingfisher, 17 Blackbirds, 6 Song Thrushes ( continental) 221 Redwings, 16 Fieldfares, 5 Robins, 3 Blackcaps, 1 Chiffchaff (tristis), 1 Firecrest, 1 Blue Tit, 3 Coal Tits (continental) 18 Starlings, 3 Chaffinches, 10 Bramblings, 1 Bullfinch and 1 Lesser Redpoll. A Great Spotted Woodpecker was around mannez quarry for most of the morning.
