Visiting bird ringers from Sussex and Kent helped us to another impressive total of 448 birds ringed yesterday. Strong SE winds this morning limited us to operating just one sheltered site where an easy going pace, a lot of banter and a foray for some to collect breakfast baps from the local burger van accompanied 60 more birds ringed. Visual migration included our first autumn influx of Starlings along with flocks of Chaffinches in off the sea, Siskins and also Skylarks. This afternoon two Black Redstarts adorned the garden walls of Mannez lighthouse and a Yellow Wagtail was at the airfield.
