Two excellent local records this morning by way of a Mute Swan and a Black-necked Grebe both birds in Braye Bay, a location offering relative shelter during strong NE winds and always worth checking, today came up trumps! Despite two separate records during 2020 todays Swan is only the 10th record for Alderney. The Grebe is the 3rd record of this species since we began standardised recording in 2016, previous records for this species in Alderney are patchy suggesting 5 or 6 records during the 1970’s only. Photos (JH) from this morning, Mute Swan & below Black-necked Grebe.
