Strong Westerly winds again with intermittent showers meant for a day of catching up with non birding/ringing duties. I managed a couple of hours net ride management this afternoon over Essex farm where there was a fine Pied Flycatcher in the trees around Longis car park. On Longis beach at low tide this afternoon there was a flock of 14 Bar-tailed Godwit and 1 Whimbrel. This record of Godwits would appear to be an exceptional number as only 1 to 5 individuals are recorded on average during Autumn migration here.
