Yesterday afternoon saw the start of the ABO’s seabird monitoring, contributing to the States of Alderney RAMSAR program. Excellent conditions made for a productive visit to ring the Cormorant chicks on Little Burhou. We are pleased to report that this very small colony have 11 nests this year, double that of recent year’s, and the birds have moved a short distance to a new location to accommodate this. 11 chicks were ringed ( the most in any visit to date) This colour ringing research is mirroring and in partnership with the ringing of the Cormorant colony situated off mainland Guernsey and our thanks goes out to the Channel Islands Ringing Scheme and La Societe Guernesiaise Photo: Yesterday’s Cormorant ringing team.
