It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of Roger Taylor.
Roger was the bird ringing trainer of our own warden John Horton. Roger closely followed the progress of Alderney Bird Observatory, in 2022 having given up bird ringing due to ill health, Roger sent all of his research equipment to the ABO that it may be used to help with the training of future generations.
John said, “Roger ringed the north Kent/Greater London Thames-side marshes for decades contributing valuable data evidencing species rich environments in and close to London, he was very knowledgeable and diligent; I consider myself very fortunate to have had him as my ringing trainer and call him my friend”. Roger had been battling cancer for several years, our condolences to all his family.
