Striped Hawk-moth in one of the observatory traps this morning, a fan of Red Valerian which is a common plant locally.

Standing room only on the top of Mannez lighthouse this evening as hundreds of Starlings arriving today go to roost.

Pied Crow

A Pied Crow! Almost certainly the bird reported from Guernsey this morning flew over The Little Garage IN Alderney AND headed inland at 1625hrs. Seen by the ABO warden.

Red-backed Shrike

Ringing was dominated by Blackcaps, Chiffchaffs and Meadow Pipits this morning but amongst them some good variety which included 2 Siskins, 2 Spotted Flycatchers, 62 House Martins, & 1 Grey Wagtail.

The highlight was most certainly a Red-backed Shrike (photo above).

Late this afternoon we found an Amur Wagtail.

This is only the 3rd record for The British Isles and the first one ever seen in The Channel Islands.
