A good find by Assistant Warden Matt Scragg this morning, we believe the first ever Alderney record of a colour ringed Sandwich Tern, the Blue colour ring on its left leg was 3 digits ‘HTL’.
Early investigations suggest the bird is likely to be from a colour ringing scheme in Holland. The bird stood in seaweed concealing the ring for long periods but eventually used its colour ringed leg to have a quick preen allowing us to confirm the digits on the ring.
