After the deluge of Thrushes yesterday the continueing north winds brought us a second but even larger helping of migrant passerines across the island. This morning the birds passing over Longis were recorded as 1700 Redwings and Song Thrushes, 400 Starlings, 11 Fieldfares, 6 Siskins, 85 Chaffinches, 5 Skylarks and 22 Swallows.

At Mannez 57 Rewdwings were ringed and we returned 157 new birds for the day. Final totals included 13 Chiffchaffs, 9 Blackcaps, 5 Long tailed Tits, 68 Redwings, 23 Song Thrushes, 14 Starlings, 3 Chaffinches, 4 Goldcrests, 7 Robins and our first Fieldfare (also 1st ever ringed on the island).

There were 2 Yellow browed Warblers seen around Essex Farm in the afternoon and a Whimbrel at Mannez lighthouse. 2 Woodcocks were seen near the airfield and the male Shoveler was again on Essex pond. Lastly, there were 2 Turnstones at Platte Saline.
