Our first day and finally our first North winds of this autumn, they not disappoint.  Soon after frist light squadrons of mixed Thrush and finch flocks passed over Longis reserve heading towards Mannez. Our assembled ringers recorded this visual migration and by lunch time estimated some 1500 Redwings, 500 Song Thrushes, 200 Fieldfares and 200 Chaffinches and 6 Skylarks.  A fantastic day birds everywhere…

The ringing total was 104 new birds and dominated by Thrushes as you might expect with 33 Redwings and 24 Song Thrushes, also our 12th Yellow-browed Warbler, 1 Firecrest, 13 Chiffchaffs, 6 Blackcaps and 11 Robins.
