A memorable day for the ABO as we went over 10,000 birds ringed since we began 1st March this year.

Further East winds and today saw a decrease in Robins but increase in Blackcaps. Redwings were coming through in larger flocks with about 150 recorded in total. A Woodcock was seen on Longis Common and there were again 2 Jack Snipe on the pond. There was 1 Wheatear at the north end of the airfield.

Ringing was busy again with 148 new birds:50 Blackcaps, 28 Swallows and 22 Chiffchaffs were the most numerous species. Also ringed, 1 Reed Warbler, 1 Firecrest, 4 Goldcrest, 2 Redwing, 1 Stonechat, 11 Song Thrush, 1 Starling and 1 Long tailed Tit.
