The winds dropped overnight giving us a perfectly still morning. From first light it was again apparent that there was yet another large movement of Redwings with serveral large flocks over Longis.  2 Siskins and 8 Linnets had joined the 60+ Greenfinches on the common today and a flock of 10 Little Egrets also passed over. Again Fieldfares were in good numbers but visual Chaffinch migration was just a few small groups. Passing through and over Mannez reserve this morning an estimated 5000 Redwings. On the golf course 1 Mistle Thrush, 1 Black Redstart and a Yellow browed Warbler.

Ringing was extremely busy at Mannez reserve with 153 new birds ringed 128 of which were Redwings. At Mannez another Yellow Browed Warbler was ringed and a Firecrest was ringed on Longis reserve. In all 197 new birds from 15 species were ringed today, a marvellous start to the month. See ringing totals or full details.
