Today strong winds again with intermittent heavy showers.

Jo England and I got out birding around the island. Whilst any passerine with any sense was sheltering deep in undergrowth we did manage to clock up 53 species. Of note were the following:

1  Longis pond – 1 male Wigeon (2nd record of the year),  4 Teal, 1 Shoveler, 1 Water Rail, 1 Mistle Thrush (over), 1 male Sparrowhawk.

Saye Bay – 1 Sanderling, 4 Grey Plover, 1 Peregrine

Braye Bay – 1 Mediterranean Gull, 1 Black Restart (on jetty by hotel)

Kiln Farm – 1 Grey Wagatil, 1 Buzzard.

Clonque – 8 Little Egret, 28 Curlew.

Platte saline – 1 Lesser black backed Gull, 1 Ringed Plover.

Barrackmasters Lane – 1 Chiffchaff, 2 Goldcrest.

No ringing today.
