Late report from Paul Veron from yesterday:
Mannez Lighthouse – 134 Manx Shearwaters (81 West and 53 East), 5 Balearic Shearwaters (one West and four East), 8 Med Gulls (7 W and 1 E), Fulmar 1W, Common Tern 36 (34 W and 2 E)
Also a flock of 6 Raven at Mannez Lighthouse
Common Sandpiper – one flock of five birds together at Cat’s bay – also 2 Whimbrel
Today a busy mornings ringing saw both Essex Farm and Mannez reserve in action. It was wholly reminiscent of several large falls of Willow Warblers this spring; save we are now seeing them heading back the other way ! 136 Willow Warblers dominated a grand total for the day of 215 birds processed, 189 of which were new ringed birds. We also had a handful of Sand Martins through today on passage.
