Continued NW winds into 13th August. Ringing was at Mannez and Longis reserve both venues very quiet with few migrants though we did catch 6 Stonechats on Longis Common. Making good the ringing room in the afternoon I came across something new, a fly similar in size of a Bumble bee ! If anyone knows what this is please let us know.
With the 14th a change in the wind direction overnight from NW to N then NE this morning. Another light sprinkling of migrants around Essex Farm followed. These included a cracking Wood Warbler (photo below) and 2 more Garden Warblers. Ringing at Mannez quarry this morning where 14 birds processed included Whitethroat, Blackcap, Reed and Sedge Warblers. There was also a Juvenile Marsh Harrier spotted over the lighthouse this afternoon.
