A good light but constant passage of hirundines today continued throughout the morning following early rain with around 300 birds through by lunch time. 2 Marsh Harriers and a Cettis Warbler were seen on Longis reserve.
Ringing was delayed by moderate winds rain and hail until after 7am when conditions made a complete reversal and the sunshine accompanied dissipating winds. Over 100 birds (72 Essex farm and 33 Longis reserve) were processed: 36 Blackcap, 32 Willow Warblers and 15 Chiffchaffs the species again dominating the figures. 2 Swallows and a Firecrest were also ringed.
