July 10th

A  misty and wet morning was followed by a blustery sunny afternoon. Site maintenance was the order of the day for the assistant warden and I. A chance to share this superb photo taken and sent in yesterday by Dr.Sandy Robertson. These newly fledged Swallows were in the entrance of the German bunker adjacent to the Observatory, the second of two pairs that nested in this bunker, both pairs successfully rearing 4 chicks.

Catherine Veron reports a Grey Seal in Longis Bay, Whimbrel at Saye, 2 Peregrine at Giffione and 3 Ravens at telegraph.
