Today we welcome Nicci Cox, who will be volunteering with us at the Obs until October. Nicci has been working at Skokholm Observatory this summer doing research on Storm Petrels and joins us in time to help us with the ongoing research into our own Storm Petrel colony on Burhou.

Monitoring the hit rate on the blog, I have been delighted by the worldwide attention the ABO project is getting. This week we reached 47 different countries following/viewing this website since we launched it in April this year. The latest interest comes from individuals in Estonia, Hong Kong, Columbia, Liechtenstein and India.

This coming week, the States of Alderney are considering proposals to renovate the Nunnery where the ABO is based. If you have been enjoying this site and meaning to show your support for our project by taking up membership with but not got around to it,  now is a very good time! It’s a crucial period regards our progress, our membership totals will be considered by the States and contribute to their funding decisions.

A leading contender for the best bird photo on this year’s ABO blog has to be this one of a Hobby below. WOW!
